Sonny came to us in April 1996 from the humane society. He had been starved and abused so severely we weren't sure if he'd survive. Within 2 years he was healthy, happy and fit. Not only was it a long and difficult process to bring him back to health, but we also had to teach him to trust humans again. Today, he is well loved and appreciated, and is an ideal mount for beginners and experienced riders alike. He is also very clever-he can untie lead ropes and let himself out of any stall. He is an intelligent and curious animal who enjoys long trail rides. Sonny is very sweet natured, and has been called a puppy-dog with hooves.
Thor is a 2,000 pound Belgian draft horse who spent the first part of his life pulling sleighs, logging and drawing wagons, but now enjoys his second career as a saddle horse. Thor is very smooth-gaited and tends to be slow moving and quiet. He's a natural for heavy-set riders, but tiny women and children enjoy him too. He is calm and easygoing, and his trot is amazingly comfortable despite the fact his feet are the size of dinner plates.
Buster is a very talented little guy. He's tall enough to carry adults, but small enough for children to manage without assistance. He has won numerous championships in shows, competed in endurance rides, jumps beautifully, and is reliable on trail rides. Buster can be rather stubborn at times, always seeking mouthfuls of grass when on the trail, and he works best under a rider who's equally stubborn. He rides both English and Western.
Whisk is a cute as can be Haflinger Pony, only 5 years old, who just adores children and is learning to drive a cart. He is great for campers and trail riders of all sizes and shapes. He also loves to jump. One of his buddies is Midnight.
Brambles: This larger than life Percheron/Paint Cross is just a sweet as can be for his huge size of over 2000 pounds. He has been to horse shows, wins classes; trail rides both English and Western and is great buddies with Whisk. Brambles is known as our walking couch.
Midnight: this Arabian fellow is so very versatile as he can lead a trail ride out, take children riding, give lessons, do horse camp, and is just generally a nice guy. We resisted naming him Black Beauty but he is still a beauty.
PJ (as her nickname for a more formal Pajunka) is a beauty; she is a TB/Trachaner cross who is a very verbal lady. She is highly trained, shows dressage and hunter jumper and loves to participate in camp for those more experienced riders. On trail rides, she is happiest if she is first in line.
This lovely 6-year-old Draft/TB cross joined us in 2009. She is the sweetest 2,000 pound mare. She is a city girl originally but has adapted to the country life very well. Moko is a camp and trail ride horse and even jumps. She loves to be brushed and groomed. Moko rides both English and Western.
This handsome 9 year old POA guy, with a flaxen mane and tail, has earned so many show ribbons – too many to count. He also loves trail rides and camp. His winter buddy is Buster Brown. Chief rides both English and Western and jumps like the wind.
This handsome 4-year-old Blue Roam came to us 2 years ago directly from North Dakota. He is one of an endangered breed of NOKOTA’s. See more at www.nokotahorse.org "Blue," as we know him is a sweet, lovely gangly guy--favorite of Genevieve. Thunder Red is one of the western true wild horses. He rides English and western and is very comfortable bareback.
